Wildlife aside, Sue’s breakfasts are also something to be experienced. There’ll be more food than you can eat and, the chances are, at least one fruit on the platter you haven’t heard of before.
Breakfast at Cassowary House is always an exceptional affair. Where else can you watch, Cassowary , Victoria’s Riflebird and Musky Rat Kangaroos whilst you have breakfast!! Other highlights of our stay included Red-necked Crake (these are present most evenings) and Sooty Owl .
There are a number of twin and single rooms at Cassowary House and a cottage. These are all nestled deep within rainforest. At night, Fawn-footed Melomys bound noisily around and if you’re lucky, a Striped Possum will visit the banana trees.
The accommodation is close to the sleepy town of Kuranda and a good staging spot for wildlife excursions with the in-house guides, around the Atherton Tablelands region.
Warm and humid most of the year. Expect some periods of heavy rain.
