  • Every year, 50% of our readers visit Bird-O at least twice.
  • 30% of our audience read Bird-O at least ten times a year.

Reaching New Audiences

Traffic from other conventional Australian online birding sites yields about 0.6% of that growth. We are growing bigger audiences outside the ‘core’ Australian birding community because:

  • We welcome involvement by anyone with a passion for birds. We are totally non-exclusive;
  • We encourage involvement of commercial entities, where this provides a service for birds and birders;
  • We write around subjects related to birds, not just about birds;
  • We are allied with Wildiaries, who provide commercial support for Bird-O, ensuring we can deliver to our partners and sponsors;
  • We run a relentless and strong social-networking campaign reaching between half and one-million Facebook and Twitter pages per month.

The web site exclusively supports organisations and individuals that have an interest in genuine birding services, products and promotion of birdwatching in Australia. This might be a place to stay; skilled guiding service; birding information or simply a business with an infectious passion for birding that inspires your visitors. We invite people to join our ‘collective’ and raise a voice for birds and conservation in Australia.

Social Media and Online Database

We currently have social media following and and online database figures of about 700 people. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Birdodotcom regularly reaches between 25-50,000 people on Twitter alone. For example, we reached over 67,000 people in 3 days in the example below.

Today, Bird-O reaches on average about 25,000 people through social media every two or three days. Sometimes these figures are higher (as shown above). Joining Bird-O will get you involved in this community. The number of unique visitors to Bird-O is growing by over 10% a month.

We have active partnerships with some of the world’s leading social media users when it comes to nature and environment. This includes Wildiaries and Talking Naturally.

Our aim is to reach a new audience by presenting information about birds that’s cross-cultural and of interest to a wide range of people from the manic birder to those who have a casual interest.
