Want to join the bird-o club?

We have many writers producing great articles for Bird-O. Our mission is simple – a website about birds and birdwatching. We want to reinvigorate birding with articles and information about the joy and beauty of birds and everything to do with them. We want to appeal to a new audience, with articles not just about birds but also ‘to do with’ birds … there’s so much out there that’s interesting and exciting.

We’re interested articles on birding by birders (see Jenny Spry’s article).

We’re interested in birders travelling overseas (see Alan McBride’s article on Borneo, or Nick Lesberg’s article about Tierra del Fuego).

We’re interested in art, culture and music (see Ghosts of Gone Birds).

Bird-O is a collaborative space for writers who are passionate about birds. We are also interested in providing creative space for writers who have an ongoing story to tell or who are just looking to be part of a group who share our ambitions.

You don’t have to be the best photographer or a professional writer to have something interesting to say. What we are looking for, more than ever, is something personal and heartfelt. Do you have an amusing birding story, something that amazed you or just want to describe how you felt when you saw something for the first time? Chances are, you’ve got something everyone would like to read about.

So if you would like to write an article for Bird-O, please email us on info@bird-o.com.

Articles should be between 600-1000 words. Articles should ideally be accompanied by at least one image related to the article’s content. This doesn’t have to be a close up of a bird. It could just be a great habitat shot, or a photo of your birding mates.
